Maximize the return from your people
The CA Clarity Resource Manager module enables organizations to gain optimal results from their most valuable asset -- their people. To speed time-to-results, companies must quickly find the right people and form cross-departmental teams to resolve complex problems. With a limited number of skilled people available, organizations must optimize their processes for staffing teams and include people from different regions to assure that all requirements are met.
Capacity planning - achieving an equitable balance between resource capacity and demand - is a significant issue in today's business environment as companies strive to achieve the highest return on investment from their portfolios. Many companies face the challenge of meeting project requirements without staffing overload or under-utilization. Having a solution to plan and manage resource capacity and balance it against work demand is a required component of any resource management strategy.
Deploying skilled professionals on the right teams is key to retaining people who can make a difference in the growth of the organization. Resource Manager provides the tools to understand the skill sets of individuals and track their development, experience and interest, as well as to manage the entire spectrum of resource requisitioning, searching, and assignment of people. Whether the organization uses a formal or informal requisition process to staff teams, the CA Clarity Resource Manager module offers the flexibility to meet your needs.
To deliver on these key requirements, Resource Manager includes four major components: Resource Finder, Capacity Planning, Resource Requisitioning and Skills Management.
Match Your People to Your Work
Resource Finder provides the tools to enhance the staffing processes. Do a quick staffing search or a power skills and availability search, then drill down to specific information about each person, including skills, projects the person has worked and individual calendars. You have instant visibility into the resource pool and organizations that the person may be assigned to, making it easy to find available, qualified people across an entire global organization.

Balance Resource Capacity and Project Demand
The Capacity Planning feature in Resource Manager provides insight into the organization's portfolio, showing how overall work (demand) compares with overall resource availability (capacity). Managers can view portfolio summaries that contain resource demand and project status by organizational breakdown structure (OBS) hierarchies such as geography, departments, project type and resource roles. Strategic planners can conduct "what-if" type analyses on projects by changing project attributes to simulate different project scenarios where demand is shifted to prevent overcapacity. For example, you can exclude lower priority projects, or projects that are not yet approved, or shift project dates into the future, to see how demand requirements change. Maximizing resource utilization through capacity planning reduces organizational costs while delivering successful programs.

Manage Resource Requests and Staffing
The Resource Requisitioning functionality enables efficient resource requisition management-both from the demand-side and supply-side of the requisition process. It provides project managers with an efficient and orderly mechanism to communicate their resource requirements to resource managers. In addition, it provides resource managers with the tools to quickly find people to meet the requestor's needs and to communicate with them during the entire process. Companies with in-depth supply and demand processes can quickly and easily request, locate and deploy people with the right skills from both internal and external sources.
Identify and Track Key Skills and Experience
With continual employee training and development as well as employee turnover, businesses must confront the challenge of realizing the full potential of their skilled resources by tracking, categorizing and organizing skills. The skills management functionality enables organizations to quickly identify the optimum resources available for each work effort. CA Clarity provides companies a method for understanding the skill sets of individuals, allowing them to track their development, experience and interest levels.
